HBO Announces ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel Series ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’
HBO is set to release yet another Game of Thrones prequel series named “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.” The series will be based on the “Dunk and Egg” novellas written by George R.R. Martin.
The storyline of the series will be set 90 years prior to the “A Song of Ice and Fire” storyline, which served as the basis for the popular Game of Thrones series. The prequel revolves around the main characters, Ser Duncan the Tall and the young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg). Ser Duncan is a courageous knight, while Egg is his squire.
The official project logline notes that the story takes place at a time when the Targaryen line was still ruling and when the memory of the last dragon was still fresh.
George R.R. Martin will be writing and working as an executive producer for the project, alongside Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, and Ira Parker.
The Hedge Knight is the only Game of Thrones prequel series confirmed, apart from the “House of the Dragon,” which premiered its first season in August 2022 and is currently in production for the second season.
Future prequel series ideas are expected to be decided based on “what are the stories that are worth telling” as said by Casey Bloys, the Chief Content Officer of HBO and HBO Max. “Dunk and Egg” are one of those stories, he said.
To sum up, fans can now look forward to another prequel series of Game of Thrones that offers an exciting storyline, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits, as Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg’s friendship is put to the test in Westeros.
