Hegseth’s Confirmation Marks A Major Defeat For The Media

After having already watched their smear campaign to keep Donald Trump out of the White House go up in smoke, America’s propaganda media was handed another major defeat last week with the confirmation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Following a months-long process, the Senate voted on Friday to confirm Hegseth, an Army veteran, to lead the Pentagon under the second Trump administration. The final vote tally was 51-50, with Vice President J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote after GOP Sens. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska sided with Democrats in opposing Hegseth’s nomination.

“Thank you for your confidence Mr. President. Thank you for the tie-breaker Mr. Vice President. Thank you Senators for 50 votes. This is for the troops. For the warriors. For our country. America First. Every day. We will never back down,” Hegseth wrote on X following Friday’s vote.

The significance of Hegseth’s confirmation cannot be overstated.

It not only marks a major victory for America’s warfighters, who for years have been subject to neo-Marxist teachings, broken standards, and aimless military adventurism at the hands of Pentagon leadership. It also symbolizes an embarrassing loss for the despicable media hacktivists who tried so desperately to sink his nomination.

Within weeks of being announced as Trump’s pick to lead the Defense Department, left-wing activists masquerading as “journalists” were running dishonest and unsubstantiated info ops designed to smear Hegseth and bully weak-kneed GOP senators into opposing him. From weaponizing anonymous allegations of wrongdoing to taking out a hit piece against one of his bodyguards, the media’s game plan to “Kavanaugh” Hegseth’s nomination became patently obvious.

Even when it was apparent following his Senate committee hearing that Hegseth was likely to be confirmed, the media’s antics became more pathetic.

In the days leading up to Friday’s vote, outlets like NBC News ran a hatchet job containing baseless allegations from Hegseth’s former sister-in-law that the Army veteran engaged in threatening behavior toward his second ex-wife. Only after making it to the ninth paragraph of the NBC report were readers informed that Hegseth’s ex-wife denies the claims.

Meanwhile, CNN effectively attempted to rehash old news to smear Hegseth, while The Guardian ran a “bombshell” essentially revealing that Hegseth is a Christian who — gasps — holds Christian beliefs.

And yet, for all their effort, the media’s hit-and-run smear strategy failed miserably.

Hegseth was confirmed and will now give the Pentagon the long-overdue reform it so desperately needs. For the first time in a long time, U.S. service members have a defense secretary who understands what they go through on a daily basis and who will put their — and America’s — interests first.

If the media had any sense of respectability, they’d repent of their diabolical ways and work toward regaining the trust of the public by acting as a real press dedicated to fairness and impartiality instead of acting as Democrats’ PR firm. But given their behavior since Trump’s November victory, Americans shouldn’t hold their breath.
