On⁤ February 1st, Rob Gooding, 75,⁢ was substitute teaching at Perry Meridian‍ High School‌ when a student suddenly attacked him, using a⁢ Chromebook laptop as a weapon.

The 75-year-old teacher informed ‌the school of ⁢his intention ‌to press⁣ charges against the young attacker.

“Anything like this ever happened ⁤before? ⁤No. No,” Gooding said.

According to Gooding, the⁣ incident occurred while‌ he was teaching a lesson on⁢ business practices. The student suddenly launched⁢ an⁣ attack, beating him ‍mercilessly.

“I saw ⁢him come up,⁢ and he⁤ said, ‘I’ve ‍had it,’ and he came down and I blocked the Chromebook.‍ That’s where the hole was. And it shoved me down⁣ like this and then ⁣all of a sudden he hovered over ⁢me⁣ and with ⁢his left hand whammed me,”⁣ Gooding said.

In the photos shared by Gooding on social ⁢media, his face is visibly bruised ⁣and swollen, showing⁣ the severity of the attack.

“This ⁢man child was 6-feet-2, 280 pounds,” Gooding said.

After the assault, paramedics arrived at the scene, and a school district ‌police officer stood by Gooding’s side. However, to his ⁣shock, the officer informed him‌ that they were instructed not ‍to arrest or handcuff the‍ student.

“Then he said to me, ‘We ‍have been⁢ instructed by the higher-ups, ⁤which is the district, not to handcuff, or arrest the kid,’ and I said, ‘What?’ and he said, ‘Yes, that came from the higher-ups,’” Gooding said.

The Perry Township Schools released a statement expressing⁢ their concern about the incident and stating that they have‍ a zero-tolerance⁤ policy for violence. However, they did ⁢not disclose any information⁤ about the disciplinary action taken against the student.

Goodwin remains ‌determined to ⁢press charges ⁣against the student and is ‍frustrated by the lack of action taken so far.

“Oh, yeah! And ⁢I haven’t ⁣heard ⁣a thing. If ⁣I⁢ was out there on Meridian and he ‍did that to me, where would he be? He has to be accountable for his‌ actions and ‍that’s what I feel,” ‍Gooding asserted.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office‌ is currently ⁢investigating⁤ the case, and the student’s⁣ identity has not been disclosed due to their age.
