Clinton, a Democrat, was participating in a panel at Columbia University’s event “Making Human Rights Come Alive: The ‌UDHR at 75,” commemorating the 75th anniversary‍ of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

During ⁢Monday’s discussion, an audience member ⁢named Robert Castle from‍ the Schiller Institute think tank disrupted the conversation.

Castle demanded⁣ that⁤ Clinton publicly express disapproval of⁤ Biden’s speech, which advocated for military funding ‌in ongoing ⁢conflicts involving‍ Israel and Ukraine.

“Can you please make a statement about President⁢ Joe Biden’s speech?⁣ This ⁤is a clearly warmongering speech,” Castle demanded.

“President‌ Joe Biden⁢ is ‍calling for $100 ⁢billion of ‍funding for Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine, and we’re supposed to just bundle these together and pretend ‍like we’re going to rush to World War⁤ III, and we’re all just gonna let Hillary Rodham Clinton sit here and‍ —” ‍the person continued before Clinton‍ interjected.

“I’m sorry. You know, this is⁤ — this is ‌not a way to⁣ have a conversation. You want to have⁣ a conversation, you are welcome to come talk to me afterwards,” the former ⁣U.S. Secretary of State replied.

The man responded saying he didn’t “believe” Clinton’s offer to discuss the topic ⁤later.

“The American people’s voices are what need to be heard.‍ That’s my opinion,” he added.

“Well, then sit down. We’ve heard your opinion, thank you very⁢ much,” Clinton shot back.

The man said he was exercising his free speech.

“It’s not free speech when you’re disrupting everybody else’s⁤ opportunity to speak,” she replied.

Castle then began speaking about Eleanor Roosevelt and John Foster Dulles, testing Clinton’s patience.

She ‌then tried ⁣to⁢ introduce Ugandan activist Frank Mugisha, “who’s⁤ actually on the front lines fighting for human rights, not just yelling about it.”

As Castle ⁣left the event, the crowd applauded.

What role do events like the⁢ panel at Columbia⁤ University play in shaping discussions on human rights and influencing policy decisions

Former‌ presidential candidate Hillary Clinton found‍ herself in a heated exchange with a protestor during a panel discussion at Columbia University. ⁢The protestor demanded Clinton’s opinion on President Joe Biden’s recent ⁢speech, which has faced criticism for its “warmongering” nature.

The panel,⁣ titled‍ “Making Human Rights Come Alive: The UDHR at 75,” was organized to commemorate the‍ 75th anniversary of the‍ Universal‍ Declaration of Human Rights. Clinton, a Democrat, was participating⁢ in the ‌event when an audience member named Robert Castle from the Schiller Institute think⁤ tank interrupted the conversation.

Castle called on Clinton to publicly express her disapproval of⁢ Biden’s speech, which advocated ‌for military funding in the ongoing conflicts involving Israel and Ukraine. He claimed that Biden’s call for $100 billion of funding for these countries ⁤could potentially lead to World ‌War III.

In‌ response‍ to Castle’s ⁢demand, Clinton interjected, stating, “I’m sorry. You know, this is not a way to ‍have a conversation. You want to have a‌ conversation,⁢ you are welcome to⁢ come talk to me afterwards.”

The protestor, however, ⁢expressed disbelief in Clinton’s offer to discuss the topic later, asserting that the voices of the American people needed to be heard. Clinton, ⁤in turn, urged him to sit down, stating, “Well, then ⁢sit down. We’ve heard ⁣your opinion, thank you very much.”

The confrontation between Clinton and the protestor highlights the divisions and ⁤differing opinions within the political‍ landscape. While Biden’s speech has‍ drawn ⁣criticism and sparked debate, it also brings ‌attention to the importance of open and respectful dialogue in addressing these ⁤issues.

Events like the panel at Columbia University provide a ‍platform for discussions on human rights and other pressing‌ matters. It is ⁢essential that such discussions remain civil, allowing for the exchange ‌of diverse⁢ perspectives and fostering an environment of mutual understanding.

It remains⁢ to‍ be seen‍ how the criticism of Biden’s speech and the ⁢debates surrounding it ‌will influence future policies and diplomatic relations. However, it is clear that ⁢the voices of the public, as well as ‌prominent figures like⁣ Hillary Clinton, will ‌continue to play a crucial⁢ role‍ in shaping the course‌ of⁣ these discussions and potentially⁣ impacting policy‌ decisions.
