Clinton: Voters Should Consider Biden’s Age as an ‘Issue’

Clinton Urges Voters to Consider Biden’s Age in 2024 Election

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has encouraged voters to take into account President Joe Biden’s age when casting their ballots in the 2024 election. Speaking at an event in Washington, D.C., Clinton acknowledged that Biden’s age, 80, is a valid concern for voters. If he were to win a second term, he would be 86 at the end of it. Biden’s tendency to lose his train of thought while speaking and his occasional falls have raised questions about his fitness to serve.

Age Anxiety

Clinton’s comments came in response to a question from Financial Times editor Edward Luce, who cited Biden’s stumble down a set of stairs at the G7 Summit in Japan as an example of his age-related issues. Clinton acknowledged that Biden’s age is a concern, but pointed out that younger presidents have also fallen before without causing alarm. Some of Biden’s allies have defended him against age anxiety, but GOP hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy has called his re-election campaign a case of “elder abuse.”

Biden’s Record

Biden himself has said that his age does not “register” with him, and he feels good and excited about the prospects of running again. Clinton, who lost to former President Donald Trump in the 2016 election, believes that Biden is “determined” to run again and has a good record that deserves more credit. She hopes that he stays focused and able to compete in the election, as she thinks he can be re-elected.

Reaction to Clinton’s Comments

Jason Miller, an adviser to former President Trump, responded to Clinton’s comments with a quip, but Clinton’s remarks have also been taken seriously by those who are concerned about Biden’s age. As the oldest person to be president, his age will continue to be a topic of discussion as the 2024 election approaches.
