Hirohito’s Revenge: Japan Conquers America on Biden’s Watch

It Wouldn’t Have Happened Under Trump

What happened: Japan defeated the United States on Tuesday to win the World Baseball Classic, a sport America invented and taught the Japanese how to play. Shohei Ohtani secured a 3-2 victory for Japan by striking out Mike Trout in the top of the ninth inning.

Why it matters: The United States suffered another embarrassing defeat on President Joe Biden’s watch, highlighting the need for a strong America. In contrast, the United States won the World Baseball Classic 2 months after Donald Trump took office in 2017, beating Puerto Rico 8-0, with Japan finishing in third place.

Context: President Trump managed to break the so-called Obama Curse, which prevented US teams and players from dominating in sports. For example, golf legend Tiger Woods did not win any major tournaments during Barack Obama’s presidency but had a dominant performance and won the 2019 Masters Championship with Trump as president. The U.S. women’s soccer team also won the World Cup that same year under Trump’s leadership. However, several months after President Biden took office in 2021, the U.S. women’s soccer team suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Sweden.

Bottom line: America needs to be strong to succeed.
