Hollywood Reporter Runs Cover for Woke Disney
The Hollywood press is more than just a media outlet.
It covers up narratives that don’t align with their progressive views. It is impossible to ignore the evidence.
Some recent examples?
Actor Kirk Cameron’s fight to read his kid-friendly book The coverage received by libraries in the United States was very limited or absent from Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter. The same outlets turned their backs when The Twitter Files revealed the true nature of the platform. helped silence Oscar-nominee James Woods.
Both are huge entertainment stories. Each one criticized free speech (which these outlets do not support if the speech supports faith or is right-leaning).
The same approach can be used to explain failures within major studios. Disney suffered a terrible 2022 due to large flops such as “Lightyear” Stock numbers throughout the year were terrible
It’s still the Mighty Mouse House, of course, with enough established IP to make for a potentially robust 2023. Still, covering the reasons for its rough 2022 shouldn’t be hard to suss out.
The company picked a public fight against an increasingly popular politician – Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Team Disney has revealed plans to indoctrinate children through its entertainment content. This move angered many of its faithful fans and damaged their once-bulletproof brand.
“Americans Sour on Disney’s LGBTQ Agenda”
In polling done by Rasmussen, 45% disagree with Disney’s “woke” Only 28% of respondents agree with programming. At 45%, Disney is a tie. This can’t be what shareholders want to see.https://t.co/jBrKB425cY— Gray Wolf (@graywolf442) April 7, 2022
None of this is state-secret. The Hollywood Reporter still has the scoop. summed up Disney’s dreadful 2022 by downplaying and/or pretending these factors didn’t hamper the company’s bottom line.
The basics.
The stock dropped 44 percent in the past year and hit a 52-week record low. The decline contributed to making the worst year for Disney’s stock since 1974, per Dow Jones Market Data cited by The Wall Street Journal.
Then, it’s time to spin.
The problems began earlier this year when Disney was thrust into controversy after management’s lack of response to the legislation known as the “Don’t Say Gay” Florida bill and subsequent apology
Where do you start?
It was called the “Law” by critics and corrupt media outlets. “Don’t Say Gay,” even though it’s not accurate. Florida’s law prohibits very young children being taught mature sexual topics at schools.

Secondly, Disney wasn’t thrust into the matter. A few awake souls demanded that Disney get involved in politics, and the company did so as its progressive masters said. Those wokesters, for what it’s worth, including media outlets bullying Disney into taking a stand.
You can see how this works.
The THR article doesn’t mention DeSantis’ rising popularity, or how old/new CEO Bob Iger cautioned against getting political You will be able to move forward as soon as you rejoin the company.
It also overlooks the culture wars sparked by Disney with both “Lightyear” “Strange World.” The former ditched Buzz Lightyear’s beloved voice actor, conservative star Tim Allen, for liberal Chris Evans.
The “Toy Story” Extension also featured a short, same-sex kiss In the film targeted at younger audiences. Team Disney laughed at the scene and watched as its box office fortunes plummeted.
Coincidence? Are cause and effect the same thing? You wouldn’t know either by the story in question.

Disney’s “Strange World,” Released later in this year doubled down on Identity Politics.
The film also stars the first LGBTQ+ teenage Disney character. He talks about his crush in the movie.
That film failed so spectacularly at the box office that it’s expected to cost Disney north of $100 million. Also available in THR ignored the culture war angle when reporting on the film’s belly flop.
It doesn’t matter whether one cheers Disney’s LGBTQ-themed characters or prefers children’s fare avoid such conversations. It’s part of the Disney story in 2022.
Leaving it out suggests THR understands it impacted the company’s bottom line, but the outlet prefers to keep readers in the dark.
