Homan calls Hochul an ’embarrassment’ after governor entertains removing Adams – Washington Examiner
Tom Homan, the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul, calling her an “embarrassment” following her consideration of firing New York City Mayor Eric Adams. This remark came after the resignation of Manhattan’s top federal attorney, who was directed to drop corruption charges against adams. Homan condemned Hochul’s failure to provide federal agencies with necessary resources to combat illegal immigration, emphasizing that local law enforcement is being compromised by such policies. He argued that Hochul’s actions endanger the safety of ICE officers and suggested that she should be removed from her position.
In response to the controversy, Mayor Adams maintained a focus on his responsibilities, stating that his priority is leading the city and ensuring its recovery and safety, which he believes is a positive narrative for New York.
Homan calls Hochul an ’embarrassment’ after governor entertains removing Adams
Border Czar Tom Homan called New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, an “embarrassment” Friday after she said she would consider removing Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Hochul offered her consideration to fire Adams following the resignation of Manhattan’s top federal attorney, who was ordered to drop the corruption case against the mayor.
“Gov. Hochul is an embarrassment to the position she holds,” Homan told Fox News’s Fox & Friends with Adams sitting beside him. “After someone is burned alive on a subway, she stands in front of a TV camera and says, I think criminal aliens should be removed too, but she’s got the greenlight law.”
Hochul’s failure to give federal agencies access to the resources they need to combat illegal immigration is a prime example of her embarrassing time as governor, Homan added.
“Do you know ICE and CBP can’t run DMV data on a New York state license plate,” he said. “So, they’re pulling over people, not even knowing who the hell they are.”
“That’d be like us locking officers out of NCIC at the FED zone. Would we do that? No, because officer safety is paramount.”
Homan also gestured to Adams, who served in the New York City Police Department for over 20 years, and said Hochul’s policies go against the very basics of law enforcement.
“She’s putting the men and women of ICE at risk every day,” according to Homan. “She needs to be removed.”
Adams appeared to take a more political approach to Hochul’s consideration for his removal.
“She has her role. I have my role,” Adams said. “Throughout the entire ordeal, I said one thing, ‘My attorney will handle the legal part. I’m going to handle running the city.”
“We returned jobs to our city. Our city is getting safer. We’re building housing,” the mayor added. “I think that this is a great American narrative, where I stood focussed on what I was elected to do.”
