Pompeo criticizes Biden’s stance on China as ‘Dangerously Naive’.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Slams President Biden’s Stance on China
In a scathing critique, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized President Biden’s recent remarks in Vietnam, where Biden stated that he didn’t “want to contain China.” Pompeo, known for his strong opposition to Communist China during his tenure in the Trump administration, expressed his concerns about China’s aggressive behavior and its impact on the United States.
“That’s just hopelessly naïve and something out of decades gone by,” Pompeo told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum. “The place that America finds itself is a direct result of Xi Jinping’s behavior. This isn’t a dislike for the Chinese people or dislike for the Chinese government per se; it is Xi Jinping’s aggression against America.”
Pompeo highlighted China’s actions, including intellectual property theft and the spread of the COVID-19 virus, as evidence of Xi Jinping’s hostility towards the United States. He emphasized the need for a strong stance against China’s influence and espionage activities within the country.
“They’re running huge spy operations inside our country; they have a significant influence on our university systems all across America. For President Biden to say, ‘well, we don’t want to contain them’ — well, fair enough. But make no mistake about it, Xi Jinping has at least declared economic war on the United States for the last 30 years,” Pompeo warned.
Pompeo’s concerns extend beyond rhetoric. In August 2022, he raised alarm about Chinese Communist Party-controlled entities acquiring American farmland, particularly near U.S. military bases. He supported Rep. Dan Newhouse’s proposed legislation, the Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People’s Republic of China Act, which aims to restrict foreign nationals associated with the CCP from purchasing agricultural land in the United States.
“China’s American agricultural land holdings have increased over tenfold in the last decade, and at the beginning of 2020, investments from China held $2 billion of American agricultural land,” Newhouse stated.
Pompeo’s concerns were echoed in a tweet where he emphasized the seriousness of the situation:
CCP-controlled entities are now buying up American farmland, much of which is near U.S. military bases. Yet, our diplomats in China can’t even go to the grocery store without someone following them.
We have to take this seriously.

Pompeo concluded by emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the need for a unified effort to counter China’s influence:
Let me be clear – China, under the rule of the CCP, is the greatest threat to the U.S. in our history. It touches every facet of American life: military, education, the private sector, our government, and more. It will take real, unified effort in each for America to stay on top.

Pompeo’s concerns about China’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic were also highlighted. He criticized Beijing for its delayed response and allowing the virus to spread globally:
“The Chinese Communist Party didn’t get it right and put countless lives at risk as a result of that,” Pompeo said.
