A House Democrat’s Concerns About Biden’s Reelection

A House Democrat has raised concerns‌ about President Joe Biden running for reelection, fearing it could pave the way for former president⁤ Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

“We’re at grave risk of another Trump presidency,” ⁤Rep. Dean Phillips (D., Minn.) told ⁤the Washington Post in⁤ an interview this week, saying Biden should ‍”pass the torch, open ⁣the stage.”

Rep. Phillips has ‌been openly expressing ‍his concerns for ‌months, ⁤even when ‍most Democrats have been‌ hesitant to do so. ‍He believes that Biden’s age ⁢and poor polling indicate ⁢that‌ he should not seek reelection.

“I’m doing this⁤ to prevent a return of Donald ⁣Trump⁣ to the White House,” Phillips emphasized.

In July, Phillips⁢ hinted that he might consider running against Biden ⁣for the nomination, stating ‍that he has received significant support and encouragement.

While Phillips has not made any official announcement ⁤regarding his plans ⁤for 2024, he remains steadfast ‍in⁢ his belief that Biden should ⁤step aside.

“I just felt compelled to raise my voice in the ‍face⁢ of what I consider to be an unwillingness to⁢ confront the truth right now,” Phillips ⁣told the Post.

One⁢ of Phillips’ concerns is‌ Biden’s age, ⁣which is‍ the highest of any⁢ president in history.

“God forbid the president has a⁢ health episode or something happens in the middle of a primary,” Phillips expressed.

A recent Reuters poll ‌revealed that a ⁣significant number of voters who chose ‍Biden‌ in 2020 may not vote for him again. Some are undecided, while others are considering alternative candidates,⁤ including Trump.

The Biden campaign has been focusing on the president’s economic policies,⁢ known as “Bidenomics,” to sway voters. ⁣However, approval ‍of‌ Biden’s handling of the economy remains stagnant. According⁤ to a⁢ new poll by the Associated Press, ⁤only 36 percent of voters approve of his economic‍ policies, compared to 42 ⁢percent ‌who approve of his overall ‌job⁢ performance.
