House GOP mistakenly reveals trove of concealed messages about plot to suppress lab leak theory.
Republican Lawmakers Accidentally Disclose Messages Revealing COVID-19 Cover-Up Conspiracy
Republican lawmakers have unwittingly exposed a trove of messages that shed light on a conspiracy to conceal the true origins of COVID-19. This revelation came about due to faulty image cropping, which inadvertently made the full images accessible.
The messages were unveiled in a report published by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which delved into the creation of a research paper published in Nature Medicine. The paper, released in March 2020, concluded that COVID-19 was not a manipulated virus or a product of laboratory construction.
However, messages exchanged by the scientists involved in the paper’s creation exposed that the conclusion was driven by political motives and deception, rather than genuine scientific rigor.
The report, prepared using “Acrobat PDFMaker 23 for Word,” contained cropped screenshots of emails and messages exchanged by the scientists. Unfortunately, the committee staff failed to remove the cropped parts of the images, allowing internet sleuths to uncover the full images.

Microsoft has warned users of Acrobat PDFMaker that cropped images can potentially be viewed unless the necessary steps are taken to delete the cropped areas.
“Cropped parts of the picture are not removed from the file, and can potentially be seen by others,” Microsoft cautions, as reported by The Intercept. “If there is sensitive information in the area you’re cropping out, make sure you delete the cropped areas.”
The committee has since retracted the original version of the report and replaced it with a different one. However, the original report, including the screenshots with the full images, has been preserved.

Online speculation has arisen regarding the cropped images, with some suggesting an attempt to soften the blow to the scientists. However, the released report is a scathing rebuke of the researchers’ actions, featuring damning messages that expose their deceitful work, including that of Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
“The SSCP has released hundreds of pages of investigatory material and is committed to a transparent investigation into the origins of COVID-19. Messages related to the report are consistent with its conclusions and the facts of the investigation. Highlighting specific excerpts to emphasize statements and details is a common investigatory practice,” stated a spokesperson for the subcommittee, led by Ohio Republican Rep. Brad Wenstrup, in response to The Daily Wire.
The messages revealed in the report demonstrate that while the March 2020 research paper concluded that COVID-19 could not have originated from a lab, the scientists involved intentionally misled people regarding the plausibility of the lab leak hypothesis. They sought to avoid any suggestion that a Chinese lab might be implicated in the release of COVID-19.
“Given the s*** show that would happen if anyone serious accused the Chinese of even accidental release, my feeling is we should say that given there is no evidence of a specifically engineered virus, we cannot possibly distinguish between natural evolution and escape so we are content with ascribing it to natural process,” wrote Dr. Andrew Rambaut in a February 2020 Slack message.
Dr. Kristian Andersen replied, “Yup, I totally agree that that’s a very reasonable conclusion. Although I hate when politics is injected into science – but it’s impossible not to, especially given the circumstances.”
According to a report from The Times, some U.S. investigators involved in uncovering the origins of COVID-19 believe that the virus resulted from Chinese military research into bioweapons.
