House Oversight Committee Gearing Up for Another Busy Week
After last week’s Hear The Republican-led House Oversight Committee will be busy this week focusing on fraud, waste and abuse in relation to COVID-19 aid funding.
This week’s first hearing will be on Biden’s border crisis. The House Oversight Committee (HOC) will meet Tuesday, February 7th, at 10:00 ET. “On The Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Agents.” Notably, the Biden Homeland Security Department tried to obstruct any of its agents who were trying to testify before the Oversight Committee headed by Chairman James Comer. (R-KY).
However, after Comer reminded Biden’s administration that he holds compulsory power and DHS finally relented, two border agents will answer questions on how President Joe Biden’s and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ policies have affected their ability and effectiveness to secure our country.
The two agents testifying are Gloria Chavez — the chief Border Patrol agent in the Rio Grande Valley Sector of the U.S. Mexico border — and John Modlin — the chief Border Patrol agent in the Tucson Sector.
“The Biden Administration’s radical open borders policies have ignited the worst border crisis in American history,” Chairman Comer made the comment before the hearing. “Starting on day one in office, President Biden and his administration rolled back deterrent focused policies, halted the construction of the border wall, gutted interior enforcement, pushed amnesty for illegal immigrants – all of which have made it difficult for U.S. Border Patrol agents to secure the border,” He made the observation. Comer made it clear that he would make the same promise to Americans and lawmakers at Tuesday’s hearing. “will hear firsthand from the Border Patrol about this humanitarian and national security crisis.”
On Wednesday, February 8th, at 10:00 ET, three former Twitter executives high-ranking will testify before the Oversight Committee in the first of a series hearings. “Protecting Speech from Government Interference and Social Media Bias” which will begin by diving into Twitter’s role in suppressing news stories and other expression about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The first hearing, which was a result of Elon Musk’s Twitter Files and a group independent journalists’ investigation into federal government work with social media companies in order to circumvent the First Amendment, has some names that have become even more famous as new information about Twitter’s suppression of expression that Democrats find inconvenient.
Testifying on Wednesday are Twitter’s former Chief Legal Officer Vijaya Gadde — a leading voice behind the platform’s decision to ban Donald Trump — former Deputy General Counsel James Baker — who the Twitter Files showed internally admitted that the Hunter Biden story did not constitute a breach of Twitter’s rules but instructed staff to continue suppressing the story anyway — and former Global Head of Trust & Safety Yoel Roth — who oversaw the activist team of Twitter employees who targeted conservatives and Republicans all while slapping each other on the back for each new scalp they claimed in their intolerant campaigns.
Hunter Biden’s lawyers have revealed that he is the real owner of the notorious laptop. This raises many questions for anyone who tried to discredit the laptop and claim it was Russian disinformation. The hearing will rely on the information in the Twitter Files. This is confirmation of what conservatives already believed: Twitter was controlled by leftist activists who selectively applied or ignored policies to the benefit of Democrats. Are any former Twitter employees remorseful? Unlikely.
Still, “accountability is coming,” In a statement, Chairman Comer stated that Wednesday’s hearing would be a preview. “Americans deserve answers about this attack on the First Amendment and why Big Tech and the Swamp colluded to censor this information about the Biden family selling access for profit,” He added the revelations about The “big guy” Hunter’s laptop contains information about other Biden family businesses.
Townhall will provide coverage of the Oversight Committee hearings this week.
