House Oversight subpoenas top Biden administration officials – Washington Examiner
The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed three top Biden administration officials to testify before Congress about President Joe Biden’s mental fitness. They accused White House staff of “running interference” for the president as he deals with cognitive decline. This move comes amid concerns about Biden’s ability to perform his duties effectively. The officials subpoenaed to testify are White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed. The committee has raised questions about Biden’s mental sharpness and decision-making capabilities, pointing to instances where he appeared confused or forgetful during public appearances.
The Biden administration has strongly denied any claims of cognitive decline, with Press Secretary Jen Psaki stating that the president is in good health and fully capable of carrying out his duties. However, the House Oversight Committee is determined to get to the bottom of these concerns and understand the extent to which White House staff may be covering up or downplaying any issues regarding Biden’s mental fitness.
The subpoenaed officials are expected to appear before Congress in the coming weeks to address these allegations and provide insight into how President Biden’s cognitive abilities are being managed within the administration. The outcome of these hearings could have significant implications for Biden’s presidency and the public’s perception of his ability to lead effectively.
House Oversight subpoenas top Biden administration officials over ‘cognitive decline’
The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed three top Biden administration officials to testify before Congress regarding President Joe Biden‘s mental fitness, accusing White House staff of “running interference” for the president as he deals with “cognitive decline.”
The Oversight Committee sent subpoenas requesting testimony from Ashley Williams, special assistant to the president and deputy director of Oval Office operations; Anthony Bernal, assistant to the president and senior adviser to the first lady; and Annie Tomasini, deputy chief of staff. All three are being called to sit for depositions in July.
“The White House has shielded three key aides from testifying about President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents and now we’ve learned through reporting these same aides are also seeking to cover up President Biden’s declining cognitive state inside the White House,” Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said in a statement. “President Biden is clearly unfit for office, yet his staff are trying to hide the truth from the American people. Key White House staff must come before our committee so we can provide the transparency and accountability that Americans deserve.”
