House Passes Bipartisan Resolution Condeming CCP, Calling on Biden to Free Mark Swidan
It’s time to take a stand against China’s communist regime. The House of Representatives has passed a bipartisan resolution demanding the release of American citizen Mark Swidan, who has been held in detention for over a decade on false charges and is now on death row.
Representative Michael McCaul (R-Texas) spoke out on the House floor, calling Swidan “an American, a Texan, and a hostage of the Chinese Communist Party.” He urged for an end to Swidan’s torture and demanded his immediate release.
Swidan was arrested in 2012 and accused of making methamphetamine for a Mexican drug cartel. However, CCP authorities never presented any evidence to support this claim, and 11 others charged for the same crime could not identify Swidan. In fact, Swidan’s passport proved that he was not even in China at the time of the alleged crime.
Despite this lack of evidence, Swidan has been in CCP custody since 2012 and was sentenced to death in 2019. His appeal was recently overturned, and he now faces a two-year suspension on his execution.
McCaul revealed the horrific conditions that Swidan has been subjected to, including broken hands, missing teeth, bleeding gums, and a weight loss of nearly 100 pounds. Swidan has also been forced to sleep on hard floors under constant artificial light.
It’s time for the CCP to release Mark Swidan and put an end to this injustice. Join us in demanding his freedom.
