GOP Rep alleges ‘informants’ leaking evidence of ‘fraud’ at DHS under Mayorkas.
The House Republican Investigation into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
The House Republican leading the investigation into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has revealed some intriguing information. According to House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green (R-TN), his office has been working with “informants” who claim to have damaging information about President Joe Biden’s Cabinet member, including potential “fraud” within the department.
During an event at the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank, Green shared the five prongs of his attack against Mayorkas. Green, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, has shifted the committee’s focus towards investigating Mayorkas for possible high crimes and misdemeanors, which could lead to impeachment.
The Five Phases of the Investigation
- Dereliction of Duty: The committee has already completed this phase, examining Mayorkas’s alleged failure to fulfill his responsibilities.
- Facilitation of Cartel Crime: Green plans to investigate how an open border may be contributing to criminal activity within the United States.
- Human Costs: Testimonies from the mothers of teenagers and young adults who died from fentanyl overdoses, as well as the widow of a Border Patrol agent who committed suicide, will shed light on the human toll during Mayorkas’s tenure.
- Financial Costs: The committee will analyze the financial impact of over 5 million people crossing the border illegally since Biden took office, including the healthcare expenses incurred by hospitals providing care for sick or injured illegal immigrants in federal custody.
- Information from Informants: Green has received information from undisclosed sources, referred to as “informants,” which will be the focus of the final phase of the investigation.
Green praised his committee’s senior adviser, John Cooper, for his work on a forthcoming report that highlights Mayorkas’s alleged dereliction of duty. Cooper, a former senior Heritage employee, joined Green’s staff in March.
While Green is determined to uncover the truth, the top committee Democrat, Rep. Bennie Thompson (MS), has criticized the investigation as a “sham” and questioned the legitimacy of the oversight process.
The Washington Examiner has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for comment and is awaiting further details from Green’s office regarding the informants.
