House Republicans demand Mayorkas’s salary be defunded due to border crisis.

House Republicans Push for Action on Southern Border

House Republicans are taking a stand against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, demanding action on the U.S. southern border. In a bold move, they are considering legislation that would eliminate Mayorkas’s salary.

One of the leading voices in this effort is Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), who expressed frustration with the lack of action from the Biden administration. Mace emphasized the importance of elected officials fulfilling their duties and suggested using the Holman Rule to defund cabinet members who fail to do so.

“Do your [expletive] job or Congress will act.”

The Holman Rule allows the House of Representatives to restrict federal funds for specific programs or even the salaries of federal employees. Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) also voiced his concerns, calling for Mayorkas’s salary to be zeroed out and for his impeachment.

In response, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security defended Mayorkas’s commitment to the department’s mission and urged Congress to work together to fix the broken immigration system.

Impeachment Attempts

Several articles of impeachment have already been submitted against Mayorkas. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) filed the articles, citing concerns about the porousness of the southern border. Other lawmakers, including Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas), have also introduced similar resolutions in the past.

Greene stated, “Since assuming office, Secretary Mayorkas has aided and abetted the complete invasion of our country by deliberately flooding our nation with drugs, terrorists, and illegal aliens.”
