While a majority of Republicans supported Greene on Thursday, several GOP members voted against her for controversial statements she made in the past.
“These were words of the past and these things do not represent me,” Greene stated. “They do not represent my district and they do not represent my values.”
In total, 11 House Republicans sided with Democrats.
Included were Representatives Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), John Katko (R-N.Y.), Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.), Chris Jacobs (R-N.Y.), Young Kim (R-Calif.), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.), Chris Smith (R-N.J.) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.).
Three of the Republicans, Upton, Kinzinger and Katko, also voted to impeach President Trump following demonstrations on January 6.
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) warned the move could set a dangerous precedent for other lawmakers and their rights to free speech.
“Never before in the history of this house has the majority abused its power in this way,” McCarthy stated.

Republicans said the move was hypocritical as Democrats have called for unity for weeks.
“Bringing a majority resolution to the floor to remove a minority member from her committee assignments is wrong and unprecedented,” Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) stated.
In the meantime, Greene expressed regret for her actions and reaffirmed her position that she has not made such comments during her time in Congress.
