‘How Dare You’: The View Co-Hosts Tear Into The Catholic Church, Lecture Archbishop Cordileone For Banning Pelosi From Communion
Multiple co-hosts on “The View” criticized Catholic Church teaching as they lectured San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone for banning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion over her abortion stances.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg weighed in on the ban Monday, saying that the “abortion rights battle is starting to blur the lines between church and state.”
“The archbishop of San Francisco is calling for speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving communion because of her pro-choice stance,” she said. “He’s one of the priests who also called for President Biden to be denied the sacrament.”
“This is not your job, dude,” Goldberg said, addressing Archbishop Cordileone. “That is not up to you to make that decision. What is the saying? It’s kind of amazing. What is the point of communion? It’s for sinners. It’s the reward of saints but the bread of sinners.”
“How dare you?” she asked.

[embedded content]The Archbishop of San Francisco informed Pelosi on Friday that she is not to receive holy communion at mass over her repeated support for abortion. The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is a “crime against human life.”
Pelosi has not responded to multiple requests for comment from The Daily Wire.
“In light of my responsibility as the Archbishop of San Francisco … I am hereby notifying you that you are not to present yourself for Holy Communion and, should you do so, you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you publicly repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance,” Cordileone said.
Cordileone’s announcement emphasized that Pope Francis “has likewise been quite clear and emphatic in teaching on the dignity of human life in the womb,” and noted that Pelosi and Cordileone have discussed the matter in the past.
