Tennis legend slams trans activist criticizing Riley Gaines: ‘Unbelievably irresponsible!’
Tennis Legend Martina Navratilova Slams Transgender Activist and Stands Up for Female Athletes
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova recently took a stand against a transgender activist who attacked former swimming champion Riley Gaines. Gaines had shared her discomfort about changing in the locker room with trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas.
The 66-year-old former tennis star responded on Twitter, defending Gaines and highlighting the issue of young girls being exposed to male genitalia in women’s locker rooms. Navratilova’s powerful tweet read, “Well, good for you. Tell that to the 10-year-old girl in the locker room too — just don’t look there and hopefully that person won’t look at you either… how effing irresponsible is this?!”

Navratilova continued to express her concern about the situation, emphasizing the importance of sex-based women’s spaces and rejecting the notion that it is a form of fascism. She also debunked the comparison between fears of trans-identifying males in women’s locker rooms and the acceptance of lesbians in the 1990s, pointing out the statistical differences in sexual assault rates.
Gaines, during a podcast with Bill Maher, candidly described her discomfort with sharing a space with a male swimmer, stating, “We can’t unsee it. I mean, being in that space with a male, it’s like a bad car wreck.”
Navratilova’s bold stance in support of female athletes and the protection of women’s spaces has sparked an important conversation about the rights and safety of women in sports.
