Hunter Biden Accuses Delaware Computer Repairman Of ‘Invading’ His Privacy In Countersuit
Hunter Biden has sued a Delaware-based computer specialist, alleging John Paul Mac Isaac violated Hunter Biden’s privacy by accessing data in Biden’s laptop and disseminating it.
According to ABC News’s reporting, Biden’s legal team filed the suit to respond to a Mac Isaac lawsuit filed against Biden in January. Mac Isaac sued Biden to defame him, claiming that the son U.S. President unfairly and illegally targeted Mac Isaac. He also damaged his reputation for many years with repeated claims that a laptop Biden left in Mac Isaac’s repair shop could have been stolen or hack.
Biden’s 42-page suit filed Friday describes how the laptop became the focus of a series stories that began in October 2020 and covered Biden’s life and business dealings abroad in countries like China and Ukraine. The investigation into President Joe Biden by the House Republicans has now included the laptop as a central component.
“[Hunter] Biden had more than a reasonable expectation of privacy that any data that he created or maintained … would not be accessed, copied, disseminated, or posted on the Internet for others to use against him or his family or for the public to view,” Biden’s suit says.
“As a result of Mac Isaac’s unlawful agreement and his conspiracy with others, Mr. Biden’s personal data was made available to third parties and then ultimately to the public at large, which is highly offensive, causing harm to Mr. Biden and his reputation,” According to The Washington Post, it says that the suit is in. “The object of invading Mr. Biden’s privacy and disseminating his data was not for any legitimate purpose but to cause harm and embarrassment to Mr. Biden.”
Biden’s claims have been challenged by Mac Isaac who claims that when Biden failed to return the laptop to the repair shop, he lost possession of the computer and all its contents. Biden had agreed to terms where he would return to the repair shop within 90 days to retrieve his laptop. Otherwise, the computer will be considered abandoned.
“Contrary to Mac Isaac’s Repair Authorization form, Delaware law provides that tangible personal property is deemed abandoned” Only if the owner has failed “assert or declare property rights to the property for a period of 1 year,” According to ABC News, Biden’s suit states.
Biden’s lawsuit is a sign of an increasingly adversarial strategy by his legal team in the wake that the data from that laptop was released to the public. It was stolen in 2019 at Mac Isaac’s computer repair shop. Biden’s attorney asked the Justice Department to look into criminal investigations into former President Donald Trump’s allies who shared the data on the laptop.
