Comer seeks complete Hunter Biden emails, docs from National Archives.
House Oversight Committee Chairman Requests Unrestricted Access to Biden’s Emails
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has taken a bold step in his investigation into President Joe Biden’s family’s overseas business dealings. Comer recently sent a letter to the National Archives and Records Administration, requesting unrestricted special access to unredacted emails and documents from Joe Biden’s time as vice president.
Specifically, Comer is seeking the release of emails related to Hunter Biden and Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company where the president’s son served on the board. These emails were previously released by the agency earlier this year but were heavily redacted, providing little context.
Uncovering the Truth
Comer’s request focuses on the unredacted version of all emails released under “Case Number 2023-0022-F,” titled “Email Messages To and/or From Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden related to Burisma and Ukraine.” The committee is particularly interested in an email from May 26, 2016, with the subject line “Friday Schedule Card.” This email references a phone call between then-Vice President Biden and President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine.
Of particular concern to the committee is the fact that the email was sent to “Robert L. Peters,” a pseudonym that then-Vice President Biden allegedly used when sending emails. Hunter Biden was also copied on this email, raising further questions.
Additionally, the Oversight Committee is requesting any documents or communications in which pseudonyms for then-Vice President Biden were used. It has been reported that Biden occasionally used the names “Robert L. Peters,” “Robin Ware,” and “JRB Ware” for both official and personal business.
Comer is also seeking drafts of a speech delivered by then-Vice President Biden to the Ukrainian Rada on Dec. 8, 2015. The speech focused on corruption in Ukraine and the need for reform within the Office of the General Prosecutor.
Shining a Light on Corruption
Comer’s investigation aims to shed light on the alleged influence peddling and corruption within the Biden family. He points to evidence of then-Vice President Biden’s interactions with his son’s foreign business associates, as well as instances where Hunter Biden and his associates were informed of the vice president’s official government duties in countries where they had a financial interest.
In his statement, Comer emphasizes the importance of obtaining these unredacted records to further the investigation into the Biden family’s alleged corruption. He has requested that the National Archives provide the documents to the committee by August 31.
