In a‍ surprising turn of events, Hunter Biden has finally ‍agreed to testify in ⁢the House impeachment⁢ investigation regarding his father,‌ President Joe ⁤Biden.‍ This comes after his previous refusal to ⁢participate,‌ citing concerns about misinterpretation of ⁢his statements.

Hunter, 53, has⁢ “raised a white flag”⁤ in a letter to Congress, with ⁢the assistance of his lawyer, Abbe ‍Lowell.

Previously, Hunter had declined to participate in a closed-door deposition, expressing concerns ‍about potential misconstrual of his statements.

“If⁤ you issue a⁤ new proper ⁤subpoena, now⁢ that there is a duly‍ authorized impeachment inquiry, Mr. Biden will⁣ comply‍ for a hearing or deposition. We will⁢ accept such a subpoena on Mr. Biden’s behalf,” Lowell wrote.

Following Hunter’s disruptive behavior during the Oversight hearing, which angered Republicans, the⁣ House Judiciary and ⁣Oversight⁤ committees have decided ‌to pursue contempt charges against him.

Instead of attending the planned deposition, Hunter⁤ made a confrontational statement asserting that his⁢ father had no financial involvement in his foreign business operations.

The minimum sentence ⁢for contempt of Congress is 30 days⁤ in jail. However, if the full House votes⁤ in favor of the ‌penalty, President Biden’s nominees in‌ the Justice Department will‍ determine ⁢whether legal action should ‌be pursued.

As of ⁤Friday, it remains ‌uncertain whether the⁣ House will⁢ proceed with the contempt resolution‍ while investigating the president’s ‍alleged involvement in Hunter and James ⁣Biden’s business transactions in⁣ countries such as⁤ China, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and⁤ Russia.

Republicans argue that President⁢ Biden was involved in his son⁣ and ⁣brother’s foreign business affairs and profited from ⁢them, even while serving as vice president.

Republicans have⁣ expressed their willingness to hold a public hearing with Hunter ‌Biden, who frequently⁣ involved his father in his foreign dealings. However, ⁣they insist on ‌conducting a closed-door deposition first, ‌allowing committee staff members to gather details and create a record for the investigation.

Last year, Hunter⁣ withdrew from a probation-only plea agreement due to concerns about potential legal⁣ consequences. House investigators are ‌now examining claims made by IRS whistleblowers regarding the Justice ⁢Department’s alleged protection of Joe and Hunter Biden during a⁣ five-year probe⁤ into Hunter’s tax evasion and suspected influence-peddling.

Contrary to Joe Biden’s statements during ⁤the 2020 campaign, evidence continues to emerge suggesting ‍his involvement in his family’s ⁤foreign connections.

Democrats, on the other hand, maintain that there ⁤is no evidence ⁣of corruption.
