Ex-FBI official warns of ‘disbarment’ for Hunter Biden lawyer over prank call.
Former Assistant FBI Director Calls for Disbarment of Hunter Biden’s Attorney
Former Assistant FBI Director Chris Swecker expressed his astonishment at the recent revelation that a member of Hunter Biden’s legal team had posed as a Republican attorney during a phone call. Swecker described this deceptive act as a “clear case for disbarment.” The call took place just before Hunter Biden’s expected guilty plea for tax offenses and his enrollment in a pretrial diversion program to avoid a felony gun charge.
Swecker compared the unfolding events to a gripping Grisham novel, highlighting the questionable ethics of Hunter Biden’s attorneys. He emphasized the importance of holding the attorney accountable, stating, ”If the judge lets him off on this, it just falls in line with everything else that has been happening in the Hunter Biden case. This is egregious, Jesse. This cannot stand.”
The phone call may potentially impact Hunter Biden’s sentencing, according to Swecker. He speculated that the plea deal’s timing could be jeopardized, suggesting that the judge might postpone the sentencing. Swecker also noted the significance of the whistleblower information that the Hunter Biden team seemed to fear, indicating that it could influence the judge’s decision. He emphasized the ever-changing nature of the case, stating, “This case is changing every day.”
Biden’s legal team was required to provide an explanation regarding the phone call by 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Hunter Biden is scheduled to appear in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware, where U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika will determine whether to accept his plea deal amidst new IRS whistleblower allegations. Swecker expressed his belief that the mounting evidence not only implicates Hunter Biden but also his father, Joe Biden.
Swecker drew attention to the stark contrast between his past experiences leading criminal investigations with the FBI and the current situation. He remarked that indictments were often secured with far less evidence than what the House Oversight Committee has presented, stating, “There should have already been a parade of witnesses going into the grand jury and a line around the corner.”
