ICC issues arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin

The International Criminal Court issued a warrant of arrest for Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday.
The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president, accusing him of war crimes committed in Ukraine. The crimes include the kidnapping of Ukrainian children, as well as the illegal transfer of Ukrainians to the Russian Federation.
A statement was released by the court about the alleged crimes, which stated that Putin was guilty “allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.”
Maria Aleskseyevna (Commissioner for Children’s Rights at the Office of President of Russia Federation) was arrested for similar offenses to Putin.
The ICC stated that the Pre-Trial Chamber II was also found. “that there are reasonable grounds to believe that each suspect bears responsibility for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population and that of unlawful transfer of population from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation, in prejudice of Ukrainian children.”
A United Nations investigation revealed that Russian forces had attacked civilians in Ukraine. The arrest warrants were issued the day after. “including systematic torture and killing in occupied regions” They can be considered war crimes.
In addition to deporting, the investigation revealed that other crimes were committed in the area. “Ukrainian children who were prevented from reuniting with their families, a ‘filtration’ system aimed at singling out Ukrainians for detention, and torture and inhumane detention conditions.”
According to the United Nations, crimes committed in Ukraine by Russia could be considered crimes against humanity.
The ICC claims that the alleged crimes committed in Ukraine started on February 24, 2012.Th2022, the day Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine.
Moscow has denied all allegations of war crimes.
