Chick-fil-A’s former CEO suggested actions for white people towards black people after BLM protests.

Former Chick-fil-A CEO Sparks Controversy with Anti-White Remarks

Recent comments made by former Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy have caused a stir among the brand’s conservative patrons. During an Atlanta church event in June 2020, Cathy appeared to defend the Black Lives Matter riot movement, deflecting away from the costs inflicted on American communities. However, what really caught people’s attention was when he singled out white Americans specifically in his remarks.

“My plea would be for the white people rather than point fingers at that kind of criminal effort would be to see the level of frustration and exasperation and almost the sense of hopelessness that exists among some of those activists within the African American community.”

Cathy suggested that Caucasians had to feel “hurt” until the demands of the Black Lives Matter movement were met, stating that people of such ancestry were “shameful.” He went on to urge his audience to shine the shoes of African-Americans, even performing the gesture himself during the recorded event.

Chick-fil-A Faces Scrutiny

Since Cathy’s comments resurfaced, some Chick-fil-A patrons have been wary of the brand’s political leanings. This comes after an extremist Diversity, Equity & Inclusion statement was discovered on the chain’s website, causing further controversy.

Despite Cathy no longer being Chick-fil-A’s CEO, the clip continues to circulate, sparking debate and raising questions about the brand’s values.
