Idaho School Board Member Slams Governor In Profane Tweet Over Transgender Law

Shiva Rajbhandari, an 18-year-old school board member in Boise, Idaho, expressed strong opposition to the state governor’s decision to sign a bill into law banning sex-change-related treatment for minors. Governor Brad Little, who signed the bill, has faced criticism from many who view the legislation as an infringement on personal freedom. In a tweet, Rajbhandari profanely criticized the governor, expressing hope that he would live to see the harm inflicted on Idaho’s children by the new law. The student, who won a school board trustee seat last year, went on to criticize the legislation as unconstitutional and vowed to fight for the rights of trans and non-binary youth.

Idaho is one of several Republican-led states that have recently passed or implemented laws against sex-change-related treatments for minors. The signing of the bill by Governor Little could lead to felony charges and up to 10 years in prison for violators. Critics claim that the law intrudes on the rights of individuals and families to make choices about their own health.

Although the Idaho State Police are aware of Rajbhandari’s tweet and consider the matter serious, the student maintains that his views are his own and do not reflect those of any organization.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Idaho has promised to challenge the new law in court, while Boise Mayor Lauren McLean has criticized the legislation as harmful to vulnerable children.
