The Israel Defense Forces has released a drone video taken just before the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

The terrorist organization’s leader was killed Wednesday during a firefight with Israeli forces. Sinwar’s death is one of the largest developments of the Israel-Hamas War.

The video shows what appears to be a wrecked building and a figure highlighted as Sinwar sitting in a chair. The drone hovers near Sinwar until he appears to throw something near it.

Sinwar was widely viewed as the mastermind behind the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre of Israeli civilians.

His death was an unexpected development for the Israeli soldiers who engaged with him. A group of trainee squad commanders from the IDF encountered a group of three Palestinian militants and engaged them.

Fire brought down the building where the militants were taking cover, and the Israeli soldiers searched it before finding Sinwar’s body.

President Joe Biden viewed Sinwar’s death as an opportunity to end the war.

“There is now the opportunity for a ‘day after’ in Gaza without Hamas in power and for a political settlement that provides a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike,” Biden said. “Yahya Sinwar was an insurmountable obstacle to achieving all of those goals. That obstacle no longer exists. But much work remains before us.”
