Inflation, Immigration Most Important Issues For GOP Primary Voters: Poll
Inflation And Illegal immigration According to a new poll, these are the most important issues for Republican primary voters.
WPA Intelligence polled 1,000 Republican primary voters and gave them a list with 13 issues. Respondents were asked to pick the most important issue for the presidential candidates. Three-quarters of the respondents stated that they would vote for president if the issue was important to them. “inflation or rising prices” This was the most pressing issue. Illegal immigration was also a major issue, with 27% saying that it was the most important.
“As far as public policy issues, Republican primary voters are mainly concerned about inflation and the situation at the border,” Conor Maguire is Principal and Managing Director at WPA.
Other issues that appealed to some Republican primary voters include government reform or corruption (8%) crime, gangs, and drugs (5%), job and unemployment (3%) election security (3%) healthcare and prescription drug (3%), and abortion (3%).
Respondents were less concerned about other issues, such as individual religious freedom (1%), Big Tech abuses (1%), or second amendment rights (1%). Additionally, less than 1% of respondents stated that Critical Race Theory was their most important issue. 5% of respondents indicated that they were concerned with something else.
The poll was conducted between February 13-16 with a margin of error of 3.1%. It comes as the Republican presidential field begins to emerge. Ex-President Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, former U.N. Ambassadors, and Vivek Ramaswamy, an ex-biotech executive, have declared.
There is speculation that Ron DeSantis, ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and ex Vice President Mike Pence may also run for the presidency in 2024. They all have released or will soon be releasing memoirs that are often seen as precursors for a presidential run by those with aspirations.
In August, Milwaukee will host the Republican presidential debate.
