Investigation Launched Into Alvin Bragg’s ‘Abusive and Partisan’ Pursuit of Trump

The America First Legal (AFL) group has begun an investigation into allegations of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s politically biased and unfair pursuit of former President Donald Trump. The group aims to obtain records of communications from the DA’s office regarding Trump to prove the allegations.

The AFL filed a request under the Freedom of Information Law in New York on March 27, which sought a range of Trump-related communication records. Former President Donald Trump is being investigated for allegedly misclassifying hush money payment to adult performer Stormy Daniels related to an alleged affair.

The AFL’s Vice President and General Counsel, Gene Hamilton, said the group’s actions are about holding accountable officials who abuse prosecutorial power to persecute their political opponents. Hamilton further stated that DA Alvin Bragg appears to be involved in the “vindictive pursuit of prosecution anyway, despite the underlying facts and law.”

Though Bragg has not spoken publicly about the matter, he recently commented that Trump has created an unrealistic expectation of an arrest. During his presidential rally in Texas, Trump stated that he believes Bragg has given up the case against him. In contrast, AFL will unmask the pursuit against Trump’s political opponent.

Regardless of Bragg’s decision to proceed with an indictment against Trump or not, he faces challenges in the form of “flawed” witness Michael Cohen and the possibility of the judge dismissing the case, among others.

In the event of an indictment against Trump, it would be a first of its kind for a current or former president.
