Investigation Reveals ‘Revolving Door’ of DOJ, Big Tech Employees

A new report by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) reveals that over 360 current employees of Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook/Meta are former Justice Department (DOJ) employees while over 40 DOJ employees, including senior roles, previously worked at Big Tech firms. This comes amid an ongoing lawsuit by Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and former Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt against the Biden administration alleging illegal collusion between the government and Big Tech companies to suppress free speech.

Although staff often move between government and the private sector, the AAF has raised concerns that in the case of Big Tech and the DOJ, it appears to be a “shared political agenda, specifically to silence conservative voices”. This concern has been exacerbated by reports of collaboration between the DOJ and Twitter to censor political speeches.

Elon Musk released thousands of internal emails allegedly showing collusion between Twitter and DOJ officials, including banning a report by The New York Post before the 2020 election that reportedly incriminated then-candidate Joe Biden in illicit payments scandals.

“Weaponization of the Federal Government”

The Landry/Schmitt lawsuit has highlighted a “campaign of public threats against social-media platforms to pressure them to censor more speech on social media”. The plaintiffs have filed a “finding of fact” document running to 364 pages, which they intend to use in a congressional hearing on the “Weaponization of the Federal Government” on March 30.

Landry expects that the case will ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court and will set a precedent for collusion between the government and corporations. However, the DOJ lawsuit against Google for monopolistic abuses regarding advertising hasn’t prevented concerns about political censorship.

The revolving door between the DOJ and Big Tech has called into question the Biden administration’s willingness to act against these perceived abuses rather than colluding with Big Tech. AAF President Tom Jones has stated that: “As Big Tech continues to target conservatives, the revolving door between the Justice Department and Big Tech calls into question the Biden administration’s willingness to end these abuses rather than collaborate with big tech.”

The Epoch Times contacted the DOJ, Meta, Google, and Amazon for comment on this report, but no response has been received at the time of writing.
