House Republican ⁤leaders have made a stunning allegation in a⁤ letter, claiming that the White House has significantly narrowed its denials regarding President Joe‍ Biden’s involvement in ‌his son Hunter Biden’s foreign ⁤business deals.

White House ⁢spokesman Ian Sams made ⁤statements on June 23 ‍and June‌ 29, asserting that “the president was not in business with his son.” This statement represents a “clear shift” from the White ⁣House’s previous messaging, as outlined in⁢ the letter by Republican Reps.⁣ Elise Stefanik ‍(N.Y.), Jim Jordan ⁣(Ohio), James Comer ‌(Ky.), and⁢ Jason Smith‍ (Mo.).

Joe Biden has consistently denied any involvement, stating ⁤in 2019 that ‍”I’ve never spoken to⁤ my son about‌ his overseas business dealings.” White House officials affirm that the⁢ president stands by ⁤this claim.

However, mounting evidence of Biden’s proximity to ⁣his son’s business dealings has made his blanket denial increasingly difficult to maintain.

In closed-door congressional testimony on June 22, a whistleblower revealed that Hunter Biden, in a 2017 text, threatened⁤ a Chinese business partner by invoking Joe ⁣Biden’s name. Photos showed that ⁣Hunter Biden was at his father’s house when he sent the text,⁤ as‌ reported by the Washington Free Beacon.‌ At⁤ the time, Hunter Biden and his father shared office space ⁤in Washington, D.C., with⁢ their Chinese partners, according to emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop.

It was the day after this whistleblower’s testimony that Sams first made the⁢ statement about Joe Biden not being involved in ‌”business with his son.”

When questioned ‌by a⁣ reporter on July 5, White House press secretary ‍Karine Jean-Pierre affirmed that Biden’s‌ statement about not discussing business with his ‌son “stands,” but declined to provide further ‌comment.

As the weeks pass, Biden’s blanket ⁣denial becomes increasingly difficult to defend.

The letter‍ from House Republicans coincided with⁢ Senator Chuck Grassley ⁢(R., Iowa) ‍ releasing an ⁤FBI report ⁢on allegations that a Ukrainian energy executive paid $10 million in bribes to Joe and‍ Hunter Biden. ‍IRS whistleblowers testified this month that the Biden administration’s Justice Department obstructed‌ their ‍investigation into Hunter Biden.

In their letter ⁤to White ⁢House lawyers, the lawmakers inquire whether the administration is now admitting ‌that President Biden was aware of and involved in⁣ Hunter Biden’s foreign business ‌dealings, and if the ‍president received financial compensation for his involvement.

“The American people‍ must have confidence that‍ the President of the United⁣ States is not compromised by foreign⁢ interests,” the Republicans wrote.

The White ‌House did not respond to a request for comment.
