“We discovered a woman, approximately 38 years old, lying face down in a pool of blood. We had to turn her over to place her in a body bag. She was pregnant, and her stomach had been brutally attacked. The baby was still connected to the cord but had been stabbed. She was also shot in the back,” Landau choked up as he shared. “We debated whether to use two body bags for the baby and the mother… Ultimately, we decided to use only one, as we didn’t want to separate them.”
Unrelenting Terror
As Hamas and other groups launched rockets into southern Israel on that fateful Shabbat morning, over 1,500 terrorists managed to breach the border wall. They unleashed their attacks on nearby civilian populations, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake. Some terrorists even flew over the fence using paragliders. In the hours that followed, innocent civilians and Israeli military personnel were mercilessly killed, burned, and executed. “The only solace is that we are finding soot in the victims’ tracheas, indicating that they likely lost consciousness due to smoke inhalation. They probably weren’t aware as they were burned alive in their supposed safe rooms,” shared Chen Kugel, the head of the National Center for Forensic Medicine.
