A woman who was abducted by the terror group, Hamas, on October 7th has given birth while in captivity, according to Sara Netanyahu, who is the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Wednesday, the Israeli Prime Minister’s wife sent a letter to United States First Lady Jill Biden, confirming the birth of an Israeli baby in Hamas captivity.
“One of the kidnapped women was pregnant. She gave birth to her baby in Hamas captivity,” Mrs. Netanyahu said in the letter addressed to the U.S. First Lady. “You can only imagine, as I do, what must be going through that young mother’s mind as she is being held with her newborn by these murderers. We must call for the immediate release of them and all those being held. The nightmare that began over a month ago must end.”
According to the letter, the woman who gave birth while held captive in Gaza was a foreign worker in one of the towns in Israel that borders the area, until she was abducted by the terrorist group on October 7th.
The woman, who has not been identified publicly, is amongst about 240 men, women, and children who have been abducted during Hamas’ tragic terror attack last month.
On October 7th, terrorists led by Hamas launched a horrific onslaught through communities in the southern area, killing over 1,200 people, consisting of murdering civilians in their homes and at a music festival, and kidnapping about 240 others. After, Israel declared war in an effort to overthrow the terror group’s government in Gaza.
In the letter, Mrs. Netanyahu expressed immense concern for the health and well-being of the hostages that are held captive, describing the trauma these people, especially the children, have been encountering.
According to Mrs. Netanyahu, “these young souls not only face the anguish of separation from their families but have also witnessed the brutal murder of their parents and siblings.”
The letter describes the pregnant woman who was abducted by Hamas. While being held captive, she gave birth to her child.
Mrs. Netanyahu stressed the unbelievable conditions of the birth, saying that the mother had to go through the delicate state of labor while being held captive by Hamas, whom she describes as “killers.”
The fact that Hamas is currently holding a newborn child adds an even more upsetting element to the circumstances.
Mrs. Netanyahu additionally wrote in the letter that among the 240 hostages was a 10-month-old baby.
“He was kidnapped even before he learned how to walk or talk,” she said.
That baby boy was one of 206 individuals that AFP has identified as being detained by Hamas or other organizations inside the Gaza Strip, based on interviews with family members and reports from Israeli media.
President Biden stated on Tuesday that he thought a deal to free the hostages with Hamas was “going to happen,” but he did not provide specific details.
Qatar, which is directing negotiations for the freeing of hostages, has urged Israel and Hamas to come to an agreement that will make it possible for the hostages to be released.
