Israeli Spies Foil Deadly Plot on Iranian Soil

In a daring operation, Israeli spies successfully prevented a deadly attack on Israelis in Cyprus, the Mossad announced on Thursday.

The spy agency revealed that they had apprehended the head of the hit squad responsible for planning the attack through a covert operation on Iranian soil. The suspect, who was captured alive, has provided a detailed confession to the authorities in Cyprus, thwarting the imminent threat.

Quoting an unnamed senior agency official, the Mossad statement declared, “We will reach whoever foments terrorism against Jews and Israelis around the world, including on Iranian soil.” This bold statement emphasizes Israel’s commitment to combating terrorism and protecting its citizens.

The Iranian government has long been a vocal advocate for the destruction of Israel and has been known to fund terrorist groups that carry out attacks within Israel. Additionally, Israel perceives Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons as an existential threat. Over the years, Israel has been suspected of orchestrating the assassinations of Iranian nuclear experts and the bombing of suspected nuclear facilities within Iran.

The Mossad has released footage of the suspected leader of the Iranian hit squad, Yusef Shahabazi Abbasalilu, confessing to his involvement in the plot. According to the agency, Abbasalilu was directly collaborating with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

During the videotaped interrogation, Abbasalilu revealed that his handler, Hassan Shoushtari Zadeh, a prominent figure within the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence branch, provided him with instructions. Abbasalilu stated, “He told me, ‘You need to enter northern Cyprus where we have certain people who can send you from there to southern Cyprus.’” Zadeh also supplied him with a concealed gun and GPS directions to one of the intended targets.

However, Abbasalilu halted his surveillance activities when his handler warned him that the police were closing in on him. Subsequently, Abbasalilu fled the Mediterranean island nation.

Thanks to the information provided by Abbasalilu, the Cypriot security services successfully dismantled the terrorist cell in an operation. The Mossad expressed gratitude for the cooperation between the intelligence agencies.

The circumstances surrounding Abbasalilu’s capture inside Iran and his current status remain undisclosed. Authorities in Cyprus have declined to comment on the matter, citing national security concerns.

Meanwhile, an Azeri man is currently on trial in Cyprus for allegedly planning to assassinate Israelis residing there.
