Italy ready to host as Musk hypes Zuckerberg showdown
Italy’s Culture Minister Plans Ancient Rome-Themed Charity Event with Elon Musk
Italy’s culture minister has had an exciting conversation with Tesla CEO Elon Musk about organizing a charity event with an ancient Rome theme. This event was initially proposed as a backdrop for Musk’s anticipated fight with Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg. However, the minister has clarified that the event will not take place in Rome, leaving the details of the event’s location and format undisclosed.
Musk and Zuckerberg have been playfully challenging each other to a mixed martial arts (MMA) cage match since June. Initially, Musk suggested that the fight would take place in Rome’s Colosseum, but this idea was rejected by Italy. However, Musk recently announced that the clash would still have an ancient Roman theme.
“Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location,” the Tesla CEO shared on X, his media platform.
Shortly after Musk’s announcement, Italy’s Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano confirmed that he had discussed hosting a ”large charitable and historically evocative event” with Musk. The event aims to preserve and promote heritage sites while raising funds for two important Italian pediatric hospitals. Sangiuliano emphasized that the event will not be held in Rome, but did not provide further details about the event itself.
Musk initially challenged Zuckerberg to a cage match on June 20, expressing his willingness to participate. Zuckerberg, who is trained in jiujitsu and has shared pictures of his victories on Instagram, responded by asking Musk to “send location” for the proposed fight.
