Adele Postpones Las Vegas Residency Due to Illness
Adele definitely got everyone’s attention when she announced that an ongoing illness has “taken a toll” on her voice and she has to postpone her Las Vegas residency.
In a post on Tuesday on X and Instagram, the 35-year-old singer wrote that she loves her fans and will miss them “like mad” as she takes time off to recover after getting sick not once but twice in the last few months.
“Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency,” the superstar singer’s post read. “I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break.”
“I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately it’s all taken a toll on my voice,” she added. “And so on doctors orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly.”

“The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date,” Adele continued. “We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information asap.”
The dates include basically any shows that were planned for the entire month of March as part of her ongoing residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through June 2024, the Hollywood Reporter noted.
During a show on Saturday, Adele addressed the rasp in her voice and admitted that it sounded something like the villain Ursula from Disney’s “Little Mermaid,” the Daily Mail noted.
“In the middle of last night — I’m sure you can hear it in my talking voice and my singing voice a little bit,” the superstar singer said. “Your girl was tired. I didn’t sleep very well … And Ursula from the ocean has come from my chest tonight. I can’t hit my headnotes properly. I didn’t sleep very well and my chest is on fire … I can tell I’m going to have a coffee in like 10 days, but I’m still here.”
“Straight after this show I am going on voice rest,” she added. “Can you imagine how hard for me not talking for three days is? So I’m going to be in bed coughing my guts up on complete voice rest … And not only is my partner an absolute chatterbox, so is my son. So I am going to have to lock myself in a cupboard or something like that.”
Adele officially kicked off her Vegas residency in November 2022 through March 2023, after team members coming down with COVID-19 and production delays prevented an earlier start date, the outlet noted. She then announced a second leg of the residency at Caesars Palace that ran from June 2023 through November, before the third leg was made official, with dates running from Jan. 2024 through June.
What health issues have caused Adele to postpone her Las Vegas residency?
The new schedule and will announce the rescheduled dates as soon as possible.”
Adele’s Las Vegas residency, which was set to begin on January 21st, has been highly anticipated by fans. The series of shows, titled “Adele Live in Las Vegas,” was supposed to take place at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and was expected to run through February and March. However, it seems that Adele’s health issues have put a halt to those plans.
The Grammy-winning singer has been open about her struggles with vocal cord issues in the past. In 2011, she had to cancel a number of shows due to a vocal cord hemorrhage that required surgery. Since then, she has taken precautions to avoid overstraining her voice, including changing her diet and lifestyle habits. However, it seems that the recent illnesses have proven too much for her vocal cords to handle.
It’s clear from Adele’s post that she is disappointed about having to postpone her residency. She expressed her love for her fans and apologized for the inconvenience caused. It’s evident that she values her fans and wants to deliver the best possible performance, but she recognizes the importance of prioritizing her health.
Fans who had purchased tickets for the Las Vegas shows will be eagerly awaiting the announcement of the rescheduled dates. Adele assures them that the new schedule is already being worked out and will be revealed soon. The singer’s team is likely working closely with the venue and promoters to find suitable dates that accommodate both Adele’s recovery and the availability of the Colosseum.
While the postponement may come as a disappointment to fans, it is crucial to prioritize Adele’s health and well-being. Adele is known for her powerful and emotionally charged performances, and it is absolutely necessary for her to be in optimal health to deliver those performances. However, her ability to recognize the importance of self-care and make difficult decisions for her well-being is commendable. Adele’s fans will undoubtedly support her and eagerly await her return to the stage.
