‘It’s An Effing Lie’: Justine Bateman Has Message To Younger Generations Of Women Who ‘Fear’ Aging
Justine Bateman, a well-known Hollywood star, has an inspiring message for women of younger generations who “fear” aging. She says that “it’s an effing lie” when people suggest there’s something wrong with their face as they age. The 57-year-old writer/director appeared on the “Today” show, where she slammed social media for creating a culture that encourages women, young and old, to believe they need plastic surgery to be perfect.
Bateman thinks the idea that women’s faces are broken and need to be fixed is “psychotic.” She believes the suggested solutions to this so-called problem are “barbaric.” She suggests that women should deal with the fear of aging first rather than resort to plastic surgery to address the issue. She also thinks social media is part of the problem and advises young women to stop being on it so much and realize that what they see on social media is not real.
“It’s an effing lie. It’s a lie that there’s something wrong with your face,” Bateman emphasizes. “There’s nothing wrong with your face. Don’t let it distract you from all the things that are coming your way.”
Bateman has been in Hollywood for over 30 years and says that she likes the way she looks and is not going under the knife to look younger. She suggests living in the real world, traveling, learning a language, and enjoying youth without having to worry about one’s looks.
“I just don’t give a s***,” Bateman admits. “I think I look rad. I think my face represents who I am. I like it.”
She adds that she has aged naturally over time and doesn’t want to erase the authority she enjoys now. According to Bateman, she feels that she is a different person now compared to when she was 20, and that is something to embrace.
