Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters Slams Anti-Gun Narrative Amid Racially Motivated Shooting
In response to a racially motivated shooting that claimed the lives of three people at a Dollar General store, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters passionately criticized the political Left’s anti-gun narrative over the weekend.
The assailant, a white male in his early 20s, left behind manifestos that clearly indicated his intention to target black individuals.

Sheriff Waters emphasized that the focus should be on the individual responsible for the heinous act, rather than solely blaming guns. He highlighted that guns are merely tools that can be misused by wicked individuals.
“Now guns are a tool that people use to do horrible things. But it’s the individuals that wield these things,” Waters stated. “So we are working hard to try to stop that. But in this situation, in this case, there was nothing saying—, there was nothing illegal about him owning the firearms.”
Despite being placed on a temporarily involuntarily mental health hold in 2017 under the state’s Baker Act, the assailant was able to legally purchase firearms.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Condemns Racially Motivated Shooting
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed his outrage over the racially motivated shooting, stating, “This shooting, based on the manifesto that they’ve discovered from the scumbag that did this, was racially motivated.”
DeSantis strongly condemned the assailant’s actions and emphasized that targeting individuals based on their race is completely unacceptable. He also criticized the assailant for taking his own life instead of facing the consequences of his actions.
“He took the coward’s way out,” DeSantis declared. “We condemn what happened in the strongest possible terms. We’ve offered support for Sheriff Waters in the city of Jacksonville, and we send our condolences to the victims and their families who were the victims of a very cowardly act.”
