James Comer argues FEMA has been ‘weaponized’ by Biden-Harris administration – Washington Examiner
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) accused the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of being “weaponized” to discriminate against conservatives. He claimed that FEMA deliberately overlooked certain houses in Florida that supported Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, asserting that this behavior reflects a broader pattern since the Biden-Harris administration took office. Comer stated that FEMA has not acted as the nonpartisan agency it is supposed to be, and he raised concerns about potential discrimination and misallocation of resources. The House Oversight Committee has requested a detailed briefing from FEMA on these allegations and is set to hold a hearing to further investigate the agency’s actions, including whether funds have been misdirected to assist illegal immigrants instead of those in need.
James Comer argues FEMA has been ‘weaponized’ by Biden-Harris administration
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) contended the Federal Emergency Management Agency had been “weaponized” to discriminate against conservatives, adding that the most recent claims against the agency are part of “a pattern” for it.
FEMA has been accused of skipping over Florida houses promoting President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid, which has since resulted in the House Oversight Committee demanding for FEMA to provide a detailed briefing on this claim. Comer stated on Sunday that it does “appear” that FEMA informed its employees not to assist houses in support of Trump, adding that it does not look like this was “an isolated incident.”
HOW KAMALA HARRIS PLOWED THROUGH $1 BILLION
“We believe this is a pattern, and this is a pattern dating back for the three previous years, all throughout the Biden-Harris administration,” Comer said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “FEMA’s supposed to be a nonpartisan, good government agency that comes in to help Americans in their desperate time of need, but what we have here with FEMA is what we’ve seen with many other government agencies under Biden-Harris: a weaponized agency that discriminates against conservatives.”
The House Oversight committee, which has legislative and oversight jurisdiction over FEMA, will hold a hearing Tuesday, Nov. 19 to ask FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell about the agency’s failure to provide assistance to everyone in need. Comer previewed that the committee will ask whether or not FEMA diverted funds to assist and house illegal immigrants, as the committee wants to find out where this money was coming from.
Marn’i Washington, the FEMA supervisor mentioned in the report who directed her team to “avoid” Florida homes “advertising Trump,” told the Washington Examiner that she let her supervisors “know specific streets we could not do because of hostile political encounters.” She was encouraged and supported in her decision to avoid certain streets “to keep the team safe,” according to communications obtained by the Washington Examiner.
In the wake of this damning report, Comer contended accountability within FEMA and everyone in the Biden administration is to be a priority, suggesting the need to “fire all these people.” He added that this is what the majority of voters wanted in electing Trump earlier this month, and stressed the need for Congress to work with the Trump administration “to get rid of the deep state.”
At least 20 Florida homes displaying pro-Trump signs were skipped during hurricane disaster relief canvassing following Hurricane Milton. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has since filed a lawsuit against Washington and Criswell, which seeks punitive damages against both defendants for alleged civil rights violations against hurricane victims who were unable to receive the assistance for which they may have qualified.
