Jan. 6 advocacy group includes Trump in political prisoner database following fresh indictment.
Look Ahead America Adds Former President Donald Trump to Jan. 6 Political Prisoner Database
Look Ahead America, a conservative advocacy group, made an announcement on Thursday that they have included former President Donald Trump in their Jan. 6 Political Prisoner Database. This move comes after Trump was indicted by a Washington, D.C., grand jury on Tuesday, with his arraignment scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Standing Up Against Government Abuse
“Given the specious claims and prosecutorial abuse from our government that we’ve seen so far, I have to say I’m sadly not surprised that President Trump earned the distinction of joining the over 1,000 other political prisoners we’ve documented,” said Look Ahead America Founder and former Trump campaign staffer Matt Braynard in an interview with the Washington Examiner.
Braynard further expressed his concerns about the political persecution faced by nonviolent offenders, emphasizing that this persecution operates outside the rule of law. He highlighted the organization’s efforts to urge the Department of Justice and FBI to drop charges against these individuals.
Expanding Support for Jan. 6 Rioters
Originally established as a conservative political advocacy group focused on increasing participation among blue-collar and rural workers in elections, Look Ahead America expanded its resources to support Jan. 6 rioters in 2021. These resources include a podcast featuring the rioters, a comprehensive database of over 1,000 prisoners, and a platform to assist them in finding employment after completing their sentences.
Braynard proudly described the Jan. 6 database as the only one of its kind, providing up-to-date information on those targeted by the Department of Justice. Additionally, the organization keeps track of Republican presidential candidates’ stances on the Capitol riot.
Trump’s Indictment and Arraignment
On Tuesday, Trump was charged with four felonies, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights, as stated in the 45-page indictment. At his arraignment on Thursday, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
This marks Trump’s third court appearance this year following indictments and his second on federal charges.
