Jan. 6 Defendant Accused of Stealing Pelosi’s Laptop Receives 3-year Prison Sentence

A person has been given a three-year prison term after being charged with stealing then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s notebook computer and other criminal activity on January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.

Riley Williams was found guilty of six matters related to her things at the Capitol by a judge in November, and U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson sentenced her on Thursday. Williams was charged by the prosecution with playing a significant part in guiding the team up some stairs and into Pelosi’s work.

Williams was ultimately found guilty by a judge on six counts, including civil disobedience, impeding officials, chaotic and destructive behavior while in an area under restriction, disrupting, demonstrating, or picketing while inside the Capitol building.

The witness informed the FBI that Williams either kept or destroyed Pelosi’s her after her plans to send it to Russia failed. Williams’ involvement in the robbery of Pelosi’s laptop was really up for debate by the jury, and the government filed a mistrial motion to dismiss the accusation.

Williams allegedly tampered with or intimidated a witness, and the judge couldn’t agree on that cost.

Williams may be charged with theft and witness interfering, and the public may request a new trial.

Lori Ulrich, William’s defense lawyer, claimed at her sentencing hearing that she had” caught up in listening to powerful and influential men ,” including then-President Donald Trump, according to CBS News.

Williams expressed her regret to the law and Capitol staff in her own statement at the punishment reading.

She said,” I hardly recognize the young, foolish girl who yelled at the law that time.” ” I’m a responsible parent now.”

Williams took her decisions on January 6, 2021, when she was 22 years old.

Williams added that she had” addicted to the internet since before I can note” at the time.

Williams’ claims that she was only swept up in the heat of the scene were refuted by the prosecution.

Williams was not some” impulsive Gen-Z gadfly” or” Forrest Gump” character who happened to end up at a historic moment, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel Dalke, NBC reported. Otherwise, Williams” participated in domestic violence, plain and simple ,” according to Dalke.
