Jane Fonda Shares Incredible Update With Fans About Her Cancer Battle
Hollywood star Jane Fonda shared an incredible update with fans on Thursday regarding her cancer battle after her doctor told her she doesn’t have to do anymore chemotherapy because her cancer is in remission.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, the 84-year-old actress talked about how “rough” her latest round of chemotherapy was as she thanked fans for all their support after revealing in September that she had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“LATEST BLOG POST: BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!” Fonda captioned her post. “Last week I was told by my oncologist that my cancer is in remission and I can discontinue chemo. I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate.”
“I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way,” she added. “I am confident that it played a role in the good news. I’m especially happy because while my first 4 chemo treatments were rather easy for me, only a few days of being tired, the last chemo session was rough and lasted 2 weeks making it hard to accomplish much of anything.”
“The effects wore off just as I went to D.C. for the first live, in-person Fire Drill Fridays rally,” Fonda continued. “Thank heavens for that because it was a busy week. Besides the rally, I did some lobbying and spoke twice at the Democracy Alliance all in an effort to stop Senator Joe Manchin’s side deal which climate activists call the Dirty Deal.”
In September, the “Grace and Frankie” star shared in a social media post her diagnosis and how she was planning to do chemo for six months.
“So, my dear friends, I have something personal I want to share,” the actress wrote. “I’ve been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and have started chemo treatments. This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky.”
“I’m also lucky because I have health insurance and access to the best doctors and treatments,” she added at the time. “I realize, and it’s painful, that I am privileged in this. Almost every family in America has had to deal with cancer at one time or another and far too many don’t have access to the quality health care I am receiving and this is not right.”
