Jason Aldean’s ‘Try That in a Small Town’ Tops Chart Post CMT’s Surrender to Woke Pressure
Jason Aldean’s ‘Try That in a Small Town’ Hits #1 on Chart After CMT Caved to Woke Mob
Country music star Jason Aldean’s fans are listening. The question is, is the rest of the country?
Aldean’s latest music video, released to accompany his song “Try That in a Small Town,” has sparked controversy and drawn the ire of leftists. The video takes aim at the riots that plagued American cities in 2020 and the ongoing crime wave. But the attempt to silence Aldean has backfired spectacularly.
CMT, the dominant paid TV network for country music, succumbed to pressure from the left and pulled Aldean’s video from its rotation. However, the move seems to have only fueled the song’s popularity. On Wednesday, it reached the number one spot on the iTunes chart.

CMT has not provided any further comment on its decision, but it’s not difficult to understand why they made it. The usual suspects on the left, such as The Daily Beast, labeled Aldean’s song as “racist” and “pro-gun,” without any evidence to support these claims.
However, the truth is that Aldean’s song and video do not promote ”racist violence” as some critics have suggested. Instead, they depict the violence that occurred in 2020 during the riots following the death of George Floyd. The fact that these images now bother leftists more than they did in 2020 speaks volumes about the progressive movement.
Conservatives have celebrated Aldean’s success, seeing it as a victory against censorship. Republican firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted, “Whenever they try and censor us, we only go stronger.”
The iTunes charts have spoken – Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town” is number one.

Another social media user echoed this sentiment, stating, ”They tried to ban this song about violence & crime, even removing it from Country Music TV… So the people did what people do best and decided for themselves.”

It is worth noting that critics have even resorted to dredging up a crime from almost a century ago to smear Aldean. This desperate tactic only highlights the lengths to which the left will go to push their agenda and diminish the progress the United States has made in terms of racial equality.
Despite the constant drumbeat of grievance from the left, Aldean’s success on the iTunes chart suggests that the limits of this narrative are being reached. The CMT executives who caved to the woke mob may think they are in tune with the times, but they are only falling out of step with the rest of America.
Just as Aldean’s fans understood the message of his video, any honest person who watched it knew exactly what was being portrayed. The attempt to twist the video’s meaning with leftist lies only reveals the desperation of those pushing their agenda. The United States is not the racist hellhole that liberals wish it was.
Aldean’s success on the iTunes chart serves as a reminder that censorship only strengthens the resolve of those who value freedom of expression. The CMT executives who caved to the woke mob may think they are in touch with the times, but they are actually falling out of step with the rest of America.
