Jason Miller says it’s ‘mind-boggling’ Harris campaign won’t agree to debate rules – Washington Examiner
Jason Miller, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for resisting the terms of the upcoming presidential debate. He suggested that this hesitation indicates Harris’s campaign may be struggling as they enter debate preparations. Harris has proposed allowing live microphones to be active for the entirety of the debate, claiming that her opponents lack confidence in Trump. In an interview on Fox News, Miller expressed disbelief at Harris’s refusal to accept the established rules of the debate, emphasizing that both Trump and the broadcasting network had agreed to them. He asserted that the American public deserves to witness the debate, suggesting that Harris and her team are simply afraid. Miller also hinted at Trump’s preparations for the debate, although specifics on those preparations were not detailed in the excerpt.
Jason Miller says it’s ‘mind-boggling’ Harris campaign won’t agree to debate rules
Former President Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jason Miller ridiculed Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for combating the rules for the next presidential debate, claiming they could be seeking a way out of it.
Harris is seeking to debate Trump with live microphones for the entirety of the debate, claiming Trump is “surrendering to his advisors” who do not have “confidence in him.” Miller claimed the Harris campaign realized it was in “real trouble” when it went into debate preparation and is now seeking “a way out.”
“And it’s mind-boggling because you would think that they’d want to debate, the American public does deserve this,” Miller said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, guest-hosted by Sean Duffy. “But they refuse to accept the terms of the debate, which, again, everyone had already agreed to it. We’d agreed to it, ABC’s agreed to it. The rules are the rules, they’re not changing. But Kamala Harris and her campaign, they’re afraid.”
Miller also previewed what Trump is doing to prepare for the debate, which ultimately comes down to reminding people they were “better off” under Trump’s leadership. He added that Trump has reviewed Harris’s entire record as a district attorney, an attorney general, and a vice president.
“You can’t prepare for President Trump in the debate,” Miller said. “He’s the ultimate counterpuncher, and that’s why he’s the greatest debater that I’ve ever seen. You can’t prepare for him, so we’re going to be ready, and we have that real simple message how we can make life better for people immediately.”
ABC News, the network hosting the debate scheduled for Sept. 10, sent proposed rules to the Harris and Trump campaigns, which include the same muted mic rules CNN used for its debate. While the Trump campaign agreed to these rules, the Harris campaign hasn’t yet.
The former president said he is looking forward to the debate, adding that Harris will be “exposed” to voters.
