Jason Miller suggests ‘sinister’ plans in play with Harris fighting debate rules – Washington Examiner
In a recent discussion on Fox News, Jason Miller, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, expressed concerns over the Kamala Harris campaign’s request to alter the rules for the upcoming presidential debate. Miller characterized this request as having “sinister” intentions, particularly noting that it coincided with the anniversary of the Kabul Airport attack, which resulted in the deaths of 13 service members during the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. He suggested that the timing of the request was a distraction from Harris’s performance and accountability regarding that event.
Miller speculated that Harris may be looking for excuses not to debate Trump, implying that her debate preparation isn’t going well, and remarked on her lack of media interviews since declaring her candidacy. He emphasized that these developments indicate a potential decline in Harris’s support amid Trump’s increasing momentum, bolstered by a recent endorsement from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Miller’s commentary points to a growing apprehension regarding Harris’s campaign strategy as the election approaches.
Jason Miller suggests ‘sinister’ plans in play with Harris fighting debate rules
Former President Donald Trump’s senior adviser, Jason Miller, argued there are “sinister” intentions behind a request by Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign to change the rules for the next presidential debate.
The report about the Harris campaign’s request was released Monday, which stated her campaign is requesting the microphones of both candidates be turned on throughout the entire debate rather than muting a candidate’s microphone when their opponent is talking. Miller noted that this report was released on the third anniversary of the Kabul Airport attack, which left 13 service members dead, during the Biden administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal, and said the debate rules were created by the Harris campaign in the first place.
“But the reason why they picked today to do this is to try to distract attention away from Kamala Harris,” Miller said Monday on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime. “I think this is really cynical. I think this is just disgusting what they’re doing, and keep in mind Kamala Harris said that she was the last one in the room when that decision was made. Those deaths are on her, and it’s shameful that they picked today to launch this attack.”
Miller also predicted that Harris is seeking an “offramp” not to debate Trump next month and speculated her debate preparation is not going well. He added that the last candidate to get “in the political ring” with Trump had their career ended, a reference to President Joe Biden announcing he would not continue his reelection campaign less than a week after his debate with Trump.
The senior adviser also noted that 36 days had passed since Harris became the Democrat’s 2024 presidential candidate, and she has yet to do an interview with the press. Miller suggested that Harris has “peaked” in her support and that Trump has only gained momentum ahead of the election thanks to a recent endorsement from former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Trump wrote a statement on Truth Social that questioned if he should partake in the upcoming debate with Harris, which is currently set to be hosted by ABC News on Sept. 10. The former president specifically questioned why Harris opposed doing a debate with other networks, like Fox News, NBC, or CBS News, and was adamant about sticking with ABC News.
While Harris did turn down an offer by Trump to do a Sept. 4 debate on Fox News, the former president stated he would do a “tele-town hall” on the network instead with anchor Sean Hannity.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) encouraged Trump to debate Harris next month and “agree to whatever stupid rules they want.” He said the debate will be “rigged regardless” and argued that it needs to happen because Harris will otherwise not answer any questions from the press until Election Day has passed.
