Jeffries claims lawsuits against Trump are ‘actually winning’ – Washington Examiner
In a recent statement, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) asserted that the Democratic PartyS legal efforts against former President Donald Trump are proving accomplished. Responding to critiques from Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro regarding the party’s focus, Jeffries emphasized that they are currently winning in court, highlighting their involvement in 79 lawsuits connected to various executive orders issued by Trump which he labeled as illegal or unconstitutional. Despite a low approval rating for congressional Democrats, Jeffries pointed to legislative achievements like the recent budget reconciliation bill as evidence of accountability for Republicans. He mentioned specific court victories, including a temporary restraining order halting trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship, while acknowledging that some lawsuits have faced dismissal.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) claimed that the Democratic Party’s legal strategy is working against President Donald Trump.
As House Minority Leader, Jeffries responded to criticism from Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) that House Democratic members “are failing to address the real concerns that people have.” Jake Tapper of CNN News State of the Union asked Jeffries about the “harsh assessment” Sunday.

“I have no idea what the governor was talking about. So you‘re going to have to ask him for clarification,” Jeffries said. “We are not losing in court. We are actually winning in court. The Trump administration is losing. We are partnering on at least 79 different lawsuits that have been brought related to about 35 different illegal or unconstitutional executive orders.”
When Tapper pointed to an approval rating among congressional Democratic members hovering around 20%, Jeffries dismissed the polling and instead pointed to the recently passed budget reconciliation bill, saying, “House Republicans are now being held accountable for the extreme positions connected to this reckless Republican budget.”
Among the lawsuits, one of the successes of Trump’s opponents is their litigation against the executive order ending birthright citizenship. At the moment, there is a temporary restraining order keeping the Trump administration from moving forward to enforce it.
While a lawsuit attempting to keep the Department of Government Efficiency out of the data from the Labor Department was dismissed, and another attempt from 13 Democratic attorneys general was similarly thrown out, one U.S. district judge ruled against the department accessing the U.S. Treasury.
