Judea and Samaria’s Jewish population hits 500K.
The Jewish Population in Judea and Samaria Exceeds Half a Million
According to a recent report published by former MK Ya’akov Katz, the Jewish population currently residing in Judea and Samaria, the heartland of Israel, has exceeded half a million people. The report, based on data from the Israeli Interior Ministry’s Population Registry, reveals that as of January 1, 502,991 Jews were living in Judea and Samaria. This figure does not include the nearly 350,000 Jews living in the eastern part of Jerusalem, which is a lawful part of Israel’s unified capital despite being contested by Palestinians.
The Historical Significance of Judea and Samaria
Judea and Samaria, the historical heartlands of the Land of Israel and the center of the Jewish State in ancient times, are often portrayed by the mainstream media as Palestinian territory. However, over 90% of the geographical sites mentioned in the Bible are concentrated in Judea and Samaria. These include Hebron, where the Jewish Patriarchs and their wives are buried, and where King David was crowned. Other prominent biblical sites in the region include Elon Moreh, Shechem, Mount Gerizim and Ebal, Shiloh, and the Valley of Elah.
Recognition of Jewish Claim to Judea and Samaria
Governor Ron DeSantis, the current Republican presidential nominee and Florida Governor, recently expressed strong support for the Jewish people’s claim to the biblical heartland of Israel. He stated that Judea and Samaria are historic Jewish lands and not occupied territory. DeSantis was the first major U.S. elected official to hold public events in Judea and Samaria.
A Miracle Unfolding
Yigal Dilmoni, former CEO of the Yesha Council, celebrated the milestone of half a million Jews residing in Judea and Samaria. He described the region’s transformation since 1967, highlighting the growth of vineyards and wineries as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Dilmoni emphasized that the Jewish nation has returned home to its biblical heartland.
Continued Growth and Development
Despite opposition and international pressures, the region of Judea and Samaria continues to flourish. The Gush Etzion Regional Council, among others, has seen significant growth with numerous communities, cities, a university, tourist locations, and high-tech industries. The aim is to adapt to changes and maintain momentum in construction and infrastructure development for the benefit of residents and all of Israel.
Survey Reveals Connections to Judea and Samaria
A survey commissioned by the Israel Defense and Security Forum (IDSF) shows that a majority of Israelis feel a historical, emotional, and religious connection to Judea and Samaria. In contrast, Israeli Arabs have a lower sense of connection to the region.
