Jewish camp to hide children’s ‘transitions’ from parents.
A Controversial Decision at a Jewish Summer Camp in Washington State
A Jewish summer camp in Washington State is facing criticism for its recent announcement regarding gender transitions and parental involvement.
Camp Solomon Schechter, known for its commitment to personal growth and exploration, has stated on its website that it will keep any decisions regarding gender transitions confidential from the campers’ families.
“If a camper or staff member chooses to identify differently from their home life, whether it involves using a different name or pronouns, transitioning during camp, or disclosing their identity to a staff member, Camp Solomon Schechter will not share this information with their parents or guardians,” the camp explained.
The camp believes that all campers have the right to openly discuss their gender identity without fear of judgment or disclosure.
Controversial State Laws and Changing Attitudes
Washington State law allows children to keep information about gender identity transitions and other healthcare matters hidden from their parents. Earlier this year, Democrats passed a law that provides resources for children who run away to Washington to avoid parents who oppose their transition.
This decision by the camp to withhold information from parents reflects a larger trend of institutions, including the Biden administration, embracing transgenderism and radical gender theory. Rachel Levine, the transgender assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services, recently expressed her view that banning sex changes for children is “regressive.”
