Jill Biden should be held responsible for ‘elder abuse’: Karoline Leavitt

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt argued that first lady Jill Biden should be held accountable for “elder abuse” with her husband, citing the president’s noticeable decline in mental acuity.

Concerns about President Joe Biden’s ability to serve as the commander in chief gained massive traction after the first presidential debate last week, which many contend was a poor performance. The first lady explained in a statement to Vogue that the Biden family would not let the first presidential debate define his presidency and that her husband will “always do what’s best for the country,” leading Leavitt to argue that the best for the country would not be a second Biden presidency.

“The majority of the American public agree with that. Jill Biden doesn’t because, I guess, she doesn’t want to be a loving wife and go take care of her husband in Delaware, which is what she should be doing,” Leavitt said on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo. “And I think the media, it’s time for them to finally step up after they’ve been complicit in this cover-up by the Democrat Party over the last four years and ask really tough questions of Jill Biden and of the Biden family about what they know about our president’s state. Clearly, Jill Biden obviously knows her husband better than anyone else in this country, in this world, and she too continues to lie to the American people. It really is shameful. She’s been engaging in elder abuse, and she should be held accountable for that.”

Among the growing number of critics is billionaire Bill Ackman, who argued that it is “increasingly clear” that Jill Biden is responsible for her husband not stepping aside in the November election. Ackman explained that she would become “irrelevant” as soon as her husband is no longer president and said she is valuing what is best for herself over the president’s health and the safety of the United States.

Leavitt also argued that the Democratic Party has been “exposed” for their repeated claims that Joe Biden is mentally fit and able to continue his presidential duties in a second term. She added that the party is unlikely to replace Biden ahead of the presidential election and that the party “did this to themselves.”

Polling data conducted after Thursday’s debate found that 72% of respondents did not believe Joe Biden had the mental and cognitive health to serve as the commander in chief. This is up from the 65% of voters who believed he did not have the mental ability to serve as president before the debate.

The first lady stated that she and her family will “continue to fight” ahead of the election during a family visit at Camp David, where many expected the family to discuss the president’s reelection campaign. A source told the Washington Examiner on Sunday afternoon that the Biden family was united in urging him to stay in the 2024 race.

Footage of the president and his wife at a post-debate rally went viral over the weekend, during which Jill Biden told her husband he did “such a great job” during the debate and that he “answered every question.” She also asked the audience what Trump did at the debate, to which she and the crowd shouted, “Lie!”

While multiple editorials released over the weekend have asked Joe Biden to step aside in his reelection bid, the Biden campaign has insisted that the president will remain as the Democratic Party’s nominee. Joe Biden’s deputy campaign manager, Rob Flaherty, contended that dropping out would lead to “internal foodfighting” within the party and slammed “the bedwetting brigade” for expressing concern about the president’s chances of winning after the debate.
