Former President Jimmy Carter’s Health Update Revealed by Reality Show Contestant
In a surprising turn of events on ABC’s reality show “Claim to Fame,” a contestant’s eviction led to an update on former President Jimmy Carter’s health.
The show revolves around contestants who have famous relatives and their task is to uncover the identities of other contestants’ relatives.
Hugo Wentzel, the grandson of the former president, was eliminated from the show on Monday.
In an exit interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 24-year-old shared an update on Carter’s health.
“He always wants to be doing something with his mind, so he’s trying to keep himself busy,” Wentzel said. “But he is really sick and getting older.”
Wentzel also revealed the challenges of visiting his grandfather due to COVID regulations. He mentioned that his mother spends a significant amount of time taking care of Carter.

Despite the limited visits, Wentzel assured that his grandfather knows he loves him and that the family is supporting him during this time.
Carter, known for his dedication to lifelong learning, frequently listens to audiobooks to keep his mind active.
The 39th president entered hospice care in February, choosing to forgo further medical treatment.
According to The Carter Center, “After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention.
He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers.”

At 98 years old, Carter holds the record for being the longest-living president, surpassing former President George H.W. Bush, as reported by The New York Times.
He currently resides in Plains, Georgia, with his wife of 77 years, former first lady Rosalynn Carter, according to the Associated Press.
In May, it was revealed that Rosalynn Carter has been diagnosed with dementia.
